    A—8 to 38 centimeters (3.1 to 15.0 inches); dark grayish brown (10YR 4/2), dark brown (10YR 3/3), moist; gravelly coarse sandy loam; 10 percent clay; weak medium granular, and weak coarse subangular blocky structure; nonsticky, nonplastic; deformable; 5.0 very fine roots throughout and 1.0 medium roots throughout and 5.0 fine roots throughout and 5.0 coarse roots throughout; 5.0 very fine tubular and 5.0 fine tubular pores; fragments; strongly acid, pH 5.2; clear smooth boundary.; observed in pit, small. Coarse roots end at the bottom of the A horizon.
