    Ap—0 to 18 centimeters (0.0 to 7.1 inches); very dark gray (10YR 3/1) and very dark brown (10YR 2/2) Error; very fine and fine angular blocky, and granular structure; 7.0 roots; fragments; abrupt smooth boundary. Lab sample # OSU0004578. dark grayish brown 10YR3.5/2 when crushed, grayish brown 2.5Y5/2 when dry; consistence moderately friable once it is crushed. High organic content.
    A1—18 to 25 centimeters (7.1 to 9.8 inches); very dark gray (10YR 3/1) and very dark brown (10YR 2/2) Error; weak fine and medium angular blocky structure; 7.0 roots; 1 percent fine distinct brown (7.5YR 5/4), moist, masses of oxidized iron; fragments; abrupt wavy boundary.
