BA—28 to 36 centimeters (11.0 to 14.2 inches); yellowish brown (10YR 5/6) Error; strong fine subangular blocky structure; firm; fragments; clear boundary. Lab sample # OSU0007838
B1—36 to 46 centimeters (14.2 to 18.1 inches); yellowish brown (10YR 5/6) Error; strong fine subangular blocky structure; firm; fragments; clear boundary. Lab sample # OSU0007839
B2—46 to 56 centimeters (18.1 to 22.0 inches); Error; moderate medium subangular blocky structure; firm; distinct dark yellowish brown (10YR 4/4), moist, masses of oxidized iron and brown (10YR 5/3), moist, masses of oxidized iron; fragments; clear boundary. Lab sample # OSU0007840
B3—56 to 69 centimeters (22.0 to 27.2 inches); Error; weak fine subangular blocky structure; firm; distinct yellowish brown (10YR 5/6), moist, masses of oxidized iron and distinct light brownish gray (10YR 6/2), moist, masses of oxidized iron; fragments; clear boundary. Lab sample # OSU0007841. Plastic and sticky when wet.
BC1—69 to 81 centimeters (27.2 to 31.9 inches); Error; weak medium subangular blocky structure; firm; distinct grayish brown (10YR 5/2), moist, masses of oxidized iron and distinct yellowish brown (10YR 5/4), moist, masses of oxidized iron; 10 percent by volume nonflat indurated unspecified fragments; gradual boundary. Lab sample # OSU0007842. Plastic and sticky when wet. Coarse skeleton of sandstone fragments.
BC2—81 to 97 centimeters (31.9 to 38.2 inches); light olive brown (2.5Y 5/4) and dark grayish brown (10YR 4/2) Error; weak coarse subangular blocky structure; firm; 15 percent by volume nonflat indurated unspecified fragments; gradual boundary. Lab sample # OSU0007843. Plastic and sticky when wet. Dark grayish brown (10YR 4/2) material is largely clay flows around peds.
C1—97 to 112 centimeters (38.2 to 44.1 inches); light olive brown (2.5Y 5/4) and light brownish gray (10YR 6/2) Error; massive, and weak angular blocky; very firm; 15 percent by volume nonflat indurated unspecified fragments; slight effervescence. Lab sample # OSU0007844. Loam till.
C2—112 to 152 centimeters (44.1 to 59.8 inches); light olive brown (2.5Y 5/4) and light brownish gray (10YR 6/2) Error; massive, and weak angular blocky; very firm; 15 percent by volume nonflat indurated unspecified fragments; slight effervescence; clear boundary. Lab sample # OSU0007845. Loam till. Somewhat more calcareous than the C1 horizon.
C3—152 to 183 centimeters (59.8 to 72.0 inches); light yellowish brown (2.5Y 6/4) Error; firm; fragments; slight effervescence. Lab sample # OSU0007846. Appears to be the A horizon of a buried soil of Early Wisconsin of Illinoian age. Although calcareous, no limestones or dolomites are present. Most of the pebbles are sandstone.
C4—183 to 229 centimeters (72.0 to 90.2 inches); yellowish brown (10YR 5/6) Error; firm; faint pale brown (10YR 6/3), moist, masses of reduced iron; fragments; slight effervescence. Lab sample # OSU0007847. Appears to be the B horizon of a buried soil of Early Wisconsin of Illinoian age. Strong brown color becomes more apparent with increasing depth. Becomes less calcareous with increasing depth. Rotten granite and quartzite fragments appear at about 7 feet.
