    BE—20 to 25 centimeters (7.9 to 9.8 inches); dark yellowish brown (10YR 4/4) silt loam; moderate very fine subangular blocky structure; friable; clay films on all faces of peds; fragments; very strongly acid, pH 4.9, pH meter; gradual boundary. Lab sample # OSU0007926; observed in pit, small. -Matrix color described as 10YR 4/4-5/6 -Lower boundary weak and gradual -Occasional thin patchy clay skins on ped faces This horizon likely qualifies as the top of the argillic horizon by clay increase from lab data and clay films observed. However, it was designated B1 on the description, so we will keep that designation but update to BE.

Lab sample # OSU0007930; observed in pit, small. This horizon is erratic. At the section sampled it was 6? thick, but in other places it is missing entirely.; -The only matrix color with Munsell designation was 7.5YR 6/6, others were brownish yellow and gray which were assumed to be redox features of 10YR 6/6 and 10YR 5/1 respectively -The "g" suffix has been removed because the gray color is on the ped exterior, not necessarily gleyed -"Thin clay skins are common are common on faces while some very thin clay coatings penetrate the interiors" -"Lower boundary clear" -"This horizon was erratic in its distribution in the pit exposure. At the section sampled it was 6 inches thick but in some of the other parts of the pit it was absent, in the latter case the B23gA2'(2Bt3) horizon rests on the B25g (2Bt5).
    2Bt5—69 to 84 centimeters (27.2 to 33.1 inches); variegated 50 percent reddish yellow (7.5YR 6/8) and 50 percent strong brown (7.5YR 5/8) clay; moderate medium prismatic structure; very firm; prominent grayish brown (10YR 5/2), moist, clay films on all faces of peds; prominent light brownish gray (2.5Y 6/2), moist, iron depletions in matrix; fragments; very strongly acid, pH 4.6, pH meter; clear wavy boundary. Lab sample # OSU0007931; observed in pit, small. -Assuming the matrix colors are the variegated 7.5yr 6/8 and 5/8, with the 2.5y 6/2 as redox depletions -Original designation for this horizon was B25g, again the "g" suffix has been removed as it seems the matrix is not gleyed, just the ped exteriors -"The grayish brown ped coatings are thin or medium thick clay skins that are continuous on the more prominent ped faces." -Structure noted as "weak to moderate"
    2BCt1—84 to 97 centimeters (33.1 to 38.2 inches); very dark gray (10YR 3/1) clay; weak prismatic structure; very firm; clay films on vertical faces of peds; reddish yellow (7.5YR 6/8), moist, masses of oxidized iron in matrix and light gray (7.5YR 7/1), moist, iron depletions in matrix; fragments; very strongly acid, pH 4.8.
