Ap—0 to 23 centimeters (0.0 to 9.1 inches); very dark grayish brown (10YR 3/2) Error; weak fine granular structure; fragments; moderately acid, pH 5.6; abrupt smooth boundary. Lab sample # OSU0013005. Slightly hard. A plow pan with vertical cracks overlying turned-under organic matter appears at a depth of 7.5 to 9 inches.
B—23 to 38 centimeters (9.1 to 15.0 inches); very dark gray (10YR 3/1) Error; strong fine and medium angular blocky structure; 11 percent medium distinct reddish brown (2.5YR 4/4), moist, masses of oxidized iron and 11 percent medium distinct weak red (2.5YR 4/2), moist, masses of oxidized iron; fragments; neutral, pH 6.7; gradual smooth boundary. Lab sample # OSU0013006. Hard.
BC1—38 to 46 centimeters (15.0 to 18.1 inches); very dark gray (10YR 3/1) and dark gray (10YR 4/1) Error; organoargillans on faces of peds; 11 percent medium distinct reddish brown (2.5YR 4/4), moist, masses of oxidized iron; fragments; slightly alkaline, pH 7.4; clear wavy boundary. Lab sample # OSU0013007. Hard. Some limestone remnants.
BC2—46 to 58 centimeters (18.1 to 22.8 inches); dark gray (10YR 4/1) Error; moderate medium subangular blocky structure; organoargillans on faces of peds; 11 percent medium distinct light reddish brown (2.5YR 6/4), moist, masses of oxidized iron and 11 percent medium distinct reddish brown (2.5YR 5/4), moist, masses of oxidized iron; 48 percent by volume nonflat indurated unspecified fragments; slightly alkaline, pH 7.4; gradual smooth boundary. Lab sample # OSU0013008. Hard. Coarse skeleton was fragments of gravel size.
C1—58 to 84 centimeters (22.8 to 33.1 inches); pale brown (10YR 6/3) Error; friable; 11 percent medium distinct yellowish brown (10YR 5/6), moist, masses of oxidized iron; 5 percent by volume nonflat indurated unspecified fragments; slightly alkaline, pH 7.4; gradual boundary. Lab sample # OSU0013009. Tends to break along very weak structure faces. Coarse skeleton was small and large angular limestone pebbles.
C2—84 to 122 centimeters (33.1 to 48.0 inches); yellowish brown (10YR 5/8) Error; massive; friable; medium distinct gray (10YR 6/1), moist, masses of reduced iron and medium distinct pale red (2.5YR 6/2), moist, masses of reduced iron; fragments; slight effervescence. Lab sample # OSU0013010. Bucket auger sample.
C3—122 to 142 centimeters (48.0 to 55.9 inches); yellowish brown (10YR 5/8) Error; massive; friable; 15 percent light brownish gray (10YR 6/2), moist, clay films and 15 percent gray (10YR 5/1), moist, clay films; medium distinct gray (10YR 6/1), moist, masses of reduced iron and medium distinct pale red (2.5YR 7/2), moist, masses of reduced iron; fragments; slight effervescence. Lab sample # OSU0013011. Some rounded limestone and occasional crystalline pebbles. Bucket auger sample.
C4—142 to 155 centimeters (55.9 to 61.0 inches); yellowish brown (10YR 5/4) Error; massive; friable; 1 percent medium distinct gray (10YR 6/1), moist, masses of reduced iron and 1 percent medium distinct light brownish gray (10YR 6/2), moist, masses of reduced iron; fragments; slight effervescence. Lab sample # OSU0013012. Angular limestone and occasional crystalline pebbles. Bucket auger sample.
