Ap—0 to 23 centimeters (0.0 to 9.1 inches); very dark gray (10YR 3/1) Error; medium and coarse granular structure; friable; fragments; slightly acid, pH 6.3; abrupt irregular boundary. Lab sample # OSU0014887. There is structural evidence in the upper 2 inches of a new or different horizon forming in the Ap.
BA—23 to 30 centimeters (9.1 to 11.8 inches); yellowish brown (10YR 5/8) and gray (10YR 6/1) Error; firm; fragments; moderately acid, pH 5.8; clear wavy boundary. Lab sample # OSU0014888. Mixture of matrix colors. Peds are degrading. This horizon is vertically dissected by many tongues of Ap.
B1—30 to 46 centimeters (11.8 to 18.1 inches); yellowish brown (10YR 5/6) Error; prismatic, and weak subangular blocky structure; firm; 0.9 pores; fragments; moderately acid, pH 5.8; gradual wavy boundary. Lab sample # OSU0014889. Numerous tongues on ped faces from upper horizon fading to gray (10YR 5/1) in lower portion of this horizon. Flecks of weathered shale, sandstone, and igneous pebbles occur throughout the horizon increasing with depth. pH is 5.8 to 6.3.
B2—46 to 64 centimeters (18.1 to 25.2 inches); yellowish brown (10YR 5/6) Error; massive, and weak subangular blocky; firm; 1 percent gray (10YR 5/1), moist, worm casts; fragments; slightly acid, pH 6.3; gradual wavy boundary. Lab sample # OSU0014890. Ped interiors are being invaded by roots. Several thick (2 inches) elongate pockets of clay are present. Flecks of shale, sandstone, and igneous pebbles occur frequently.
BC—64 to 81 centimeters (25.2 to 31.9 inches); yellowish brown (10YR 5/6) Error; massive, and weak subangular blocky; firm; fragments; neutral, pH 7.0; gradual wavy boundary. Lab sample # OSU0014891. Numerous flecks of mineral staining (dark and olive color).
C1—81 to 142 centimeters (31.9 to 55.9 inches); yellowish brown (10YR 5/8) Error; massive, and weak subangular blocky; firm; fragments; neutral, pH 7.0; gradual wavy boundary. Lab sample # OSU0014892. Glacial till. Mineral and shale staining (5YR 6/4 and N 3/ ). Sampled at 36-43 inches. Auger boring below 43 inches.
C2—150 to 155 centimeters (59.1 to 61.0 inches); brown (10YR 5/3) Error; firm; 5 percent by volume nonflat indurated unspecified fragments; slight effervescence. Lab sample # OSU0014893. Oxidized glacial till. Coarse skeleton of shale, sandstone, and igneous pebbles. Auger sample.
C3—193 to 198 centimeters (76.0 to 78.0 inches); brown (10YR 5/3) Error; firm; 5 percent by volume nonflat indurated unspecified fragments; slight effervescence. Lab sample # OSU0014894. Oxidized glacial till. Coarse skeleton of shale, sandstone, and igneous pebbles. Auger sample.
