A11—0 to 25 centimeters (0.0 to 9.8 inches); light brownish gray (2.5Y 6/2), dark grayish brown (2.5Y 4/2), moist; silty clay loam; fine granular structure; soft, very friable; fragments. Lab sample # 40A27199
A12—25 to 41 centimeters (9.8 to 16.1 inches); grayish brown (2.5Y 5/2), very dark grayish brown (2.5Y 3/2), moist; silty clay, silty clay loam; moderate medium prismatic structure; slightly hard, friable; fragments. Lab sample # 40A27200
C1—41 to 53 centimeters (16.1 to 20.9 inches); light brownish gray (2.5Y 6/2), dark grayish brown (2.5Y 4/2), moist; silty clay loam; subangular blocky structure; slightly hard, friable; fragments. Lab sample # 40A27201. poorly developed horizon of lime accumulation and some nodules and mycelia of lime occur throughout its mass.
C2—53 to 69 centimeters (20.9 to 27.2 inches); light gray (2.5Y 7/2), grayish brown (2.5Y 5/2), moist; loam; massive; soft, very friable; fragments. Lab sample # 40A27202. Contains a few soft nodules and mycelia of calcium carbonate and possibly other salts.
C3—69 to 91 centimeters (27.2 to 35.8 inches); dark grayish brown (2.5Y 4/2), very dark grayish brown (2.5Y 3/2), moist; silty clay; 1 percent brown (10YR 5/3) distinct mottles; moderate medium granular, and platy structure; fragments; strong effervescence. Lab sample # 40A27203. This horizon breaks down to relatively hard and stable aggregates 5 to 6-mm. in size that are plate-like in form but whose edges are beveled so that the aggregate often assumes the general appearance of a sunflower seed; these chip-like aggregates are loosely arranged within the horizon with their longest axis generally nearly horizontal; however, it is not uncommon to fine some sections of the profile in which the aggregates lie at oblique, and on occasion nearly vertical, angles; the faces of the individual aggregates have a colloidal sheen.
C42—91 to 152 centimeters (35.8 to 59.8 inches); light brownish gray (2.5Y 6/2), dark grayish brown (2.5Y 4/2), moist; silty clay loam, silty clay; massive parts to platy; slightly hard, friable; 1 percent carbonate nodules; fragments; strong effervescence. Lab sample # 40A27205
