Ap—0 to 20 centimeters (0.0 to 7.9 inches); very dark grayish brown (10YR 3/2), grayish brown (2.5Y 5/2), dry; channery silt loam; weak fine granular, and weak thick platy structure; friable; fragments. Lab sample # 40A02055. Some of this latter structure may be the result of compression from heavy equipment.
A2—20 to 30 centimeters (7.9 to 11.8 inches); olive brown (2.5Y 4/4) very channery loam; weak thin platy structure; friable; fragments. Lab sample # 40A02056. This is about the same color as the underlying B1 and is distinguished principally by its platy structure.
B1—30 to 56 centimeters (11.8 to 22.0 inches); olive brown (2.5Y 4/4) very channery loam; weak subangular blocky structure; friable; fragments. Lab sample # 40A02057
Bx1—56 to 122 centimeters (22.0 to 48.0 inches); olive brown (2.5Y 4/4) very channery silt loam; massive; very firm; brittle; 3.0 coarse pores; 75 percent clay films on faces of peds; fragments. Lab sample # 40A02058. continuous - phpvsfiid 183896; continuous - phpvsfiid 183896
Bx2—122 to 183 centimeters (48.0 to 72.0 inches); olive brown (2.5Y 4/4) very channery silt loam; massive; very firm; brittle; 3.0 coarse pores; 75 percent clay films on faces of peds; fragments. Lab sample # 40A02059. Like the above only deeper. Both horizons very firm and a rather strong blow from the geology pick-hammer is needed to dislodge a 1x2x2 inch fragment. No mottling, the color is homogeneous throughout.; continuous - phpvsfiid 183897; continuous - phpvsfiid 183897
C2—183 to 213 centimeters (72.0 to 83.9 inches); dark olive brown (2.5Y 3/3) very channery loam; firm; 3.0 fine pores; clay films on faces of peds; fragments. Lab sample # 40A02060. No obvious structure, but perhaps a faint indication of a horizontal arrangement of fragments, clay films are spaced roughly at 1/4 inch intervals. Perhaps this is more nearly a B3 of C1 rather than a C2.; discontinuous - phpvsfiid 183898; discontinuous - phpvsfiid 183898
