    Ap—0 to 18 centimeters (0.0 to 7.1 inches); very dark grayish brown (10YR 3/2) loam; moderate medium granular, and weak very coarse platy structure; friable; 15 percent by volume rounded 2-39-75 millimeter unspecified fragments and 22 percent by volume 75-162-250 millimeter unspecified fragments. Lab sample # 40A02129. Moderate medium granular structure except where heavy ditch digging machinery has caused compaction- then structure is weak very coarse platy.
    A2—18 to 30 centimeters (7.1 to 11.8 inches); dark yellowish brown (10YR 4/4) loam; weak thin platy structure; very friable; 15 percent by volume rounded 2-39-75 millimeter unspecified fragments and 20 percent by volume 75-162-250 millimeter unspecified fragments. Lab sample # 40A02130. Rounded pebbles mostly gray fine grained sandstone and siltstone. There are considerable intermixed Ap caused by the rather numerous earthworms. Light gray very fine sand occurs on the surfaces of freshly broken peds and is also scattered throughout the mass. Distinctly paler in color than the horizon below or above.
    B1—30 to 51 centimeters (11.8 to 20.1 inches); dark yellowish brown (10YR 4/4) gravelly loam; weak subangular blocky structure; friable; 45 percent by volume 2-39-75 millimeter unspecified fragments and 57 percent by volume 75-162-250 millimeter unspecified fragments wavy boundary. Lab sample # 40A02131. 45 percent coarse skeleton with many pebbles in the 2 to 4 inch range and some 6 or 8 inches. The lower boundary is wavy and varies from about 16 to 24 inches in depth with an average of about 20 inches.
    B21—51 to 76 centimeters (20.1 to 29.9 inches); brown (7.5YR 4/4) gravelly loam; weak and moderate subangular blocky structure; firm; clay films on faces of peds; 61 percent by volume 75-162-250 millimeter unspecified fragments. Lab sample # 40A02132. Surface of peds are darker than those in the B1; the horizon as a whole is slightly firmer than the B1. No ghosts of former limestone pebbles were noted. There is a 1 to 2 inch border between the wavy horizons above and below.; discontinuous - phpvsfiid 183900; discontinuous - phpvsfiid 183900
    B22—76 to 183 centimeters (29.9 to 72.0 inches); dark yellowish brown (10YR 4/4) and very dark grayish brown (10YR 3/2) and brown (10YR 4/3) Error; loose; 3.0 roots; 3.0 fine pores; 71 percent by volume 75-162-250 millimeter unspecified fragments. Lab sample # 40A02133. Numerous strong brown (7.5YR 5/6) and very dark grayish brown (10YR i3/2) ghosts. Very gravelly material, the fine earth portions of which on weak pressure gives the impression of sandy loam with greater pressure and working a clay loam, silty clay loam, or clay in a few spots.
    C1—183 to 229 centimeters (72.0 to 90.2 inches); very dark grayish brown (10YR 3/2) silty clay loam, gravelly clay loam; very friable; 68 percent by volume 75-162-250 millimeter unspecified fragments. Lab sample # 40A02134. Cobbles 6 to 8 inches are common but most are in the 1 to 6 inch range. Carbonates occur on the bottom of many pebbles and there are some clayey surfaced 2 to 4 inch dark pebbles with carbonate interiors. There are fewer ghosts in the horizon than in the horizon above and there are more ghosts just in the process of formation. The fine material was sticky when moist.
    C2—229 to 305 centimeters (90.2 to 120.1 inches); very dark grayish brown (2.5Y 3/2) Error; loose; 76 percent by volume 75-162-250 millimeter unspecified fragments. Lab sample # 40A02135. A fresh sample of unleached gravel was obtained about 200 feet away from the remainder of the sample in a fresh borrow pit bordering the railroad on the same terrace at a depth of about 10 feet. Calcareous gravel cemented with carbonate to a conglomerate in places. The depth to carbonate on the particular terrace varies because of the waviness of the underlying horizon from about 6 to 10 feet with the average probably about 7 feet.
