A—0 to 5 centimeters (0.0 to 2.0 inches); grayish brown (10YR 5/2), very dark grayish brown (10YR 3/2), moist; fine sandy loam; weak fine platy, and weak fine granular structure; soft, very friable; fragments; noneffervescent; clear smooth boundary. Lab sample # 40A26846. Platiness is not uniform and degree of its expression varies from place to place.

Lab sample # 40A26847. The tops of the columns are slightly rounded and aggregate faces are flecked with 10YR 8/2 materials.
Bt1—15 to 28 centimeters (5.9 to 11.0 inches); brown (10YR 5/3), dark brown (10YR 3/3), moist; silty clay loam; strong medium prismatic parts to strong medium angular blocky structure; very hard, very firm; 30 percent prominent clay films; fragments; noneffervescent; gradual wavy boundary. Lab sample # 40A26848
Bt2—28 to 41 centimeters (11.0 to 16.1 inches); brown (10YR 5/3), brown (10YR 4/3), moist; clay loam; moderate coarse prismatic, and moderate coarse subangular blocky structure; hard, friable; 10 percent clay films; fragments; noneffervescent; clear smooth boundary. Lab sample # 40A26849. patchy - phpvsfiid 1609969; patchy - phpvsfiid 1609969
BC—41 to 53 centimeters (16.1 to 20.9 inches); pale brown (10YR 6/3), brown (10YR 5/3), moist; fine sandy loam; weak coarse subangular blocky structure; hard, friable; fragments; noneffervescent; abrupt smooth boundary. Lab sample # 40A26850

Lab sample # 40A26851. Horizon contains moderate amounts of accumulated lime chiefly as lime four but with a few calcium carbonate concretions; the horizon rests abruptly on hard bedrock of the Arikaree formation.
