    Ap—0 to 18 centimeters (0.0 to 7.1 inches); very dark grayish brown (10YR 3/2) silt loam; moderate fine and medium granular structure; 7.0 roots; fragments; abrupt smooth boundary. Lab sample # OSU0004370. high organic content.
    A1—18 to 22 centimeters (7.1 to 8.7 inches); very dark gray (10YR 3/1) silt loam; moderate fine subangular blocky, and granular structure; 7.0 roots; fragments; clear smooth boundary. Lab sample # OSU0004371. high organic content; many worm holes.
    B1—22 to 38 centimeters (8.7 to 15.0 inches); dark grayish brown (10YR 4/2) and yellowish brown (10YR 5/4) clay loam; very fine angular blocky, and subangular blocky structure; 7.0 roots; fine distinct dark grayish brown (10YR 4/2), moist, masses of reduced iron and brown (10YR 5/3), moist, masses of reduced iron; fragments; gradual smooth boundary. Lab sample # OSU0004372. Peds are so fine and covered so completely that color appears to be 10YR 3/1 with many, fine, distinct 10YR 4/2 and 5/4 mottles. Moderate organic content. Crushed material is friable.

Lab sample # OSU0004373. Interior when crushed is light olive brown 2/5Y5/4 5/6; structure friable once material is crushed; Many worm holes and roots.
