Ap—0 to 15 centimeters (0.0 to 5.9 inches); very dark grayish brown (10YR 3/2) stony loam; moderate medium granular structure; friable; 21.0 fine roots; fragments; slightly acid, pH 6.2, unspecified; abrupt smooth boundary. Lab sample # 40A02191
B2ir—15 to 25 centimeters (5.9 to 9.8 inches); yellowish brown (10YR 5/6) and yellowish brown (10YR 5/4) stony loam; weak very fine granular structure; very friable; 21.0 fine roots; fragments; very strongly acid, pH 5.0, unspecified; clear wavy boundary. Lab sample # 40A02192
B3—25 to 38 centimeters (9.8 to 15.0 inches); light yellowish brown (2.5Y 6/4) stony sandy loam; 21 percent yellowish brown (10YR 5/4) fine and medium and 21 percent yellowish brown (10YR 5/6) fine and medium mottles; moderate thin platy structure; firm; brittle; 3.0 fine roots; fragments; strongly acid, pH 5.4, unspecified; clear wavy boundary. Lab sample # 40A02193
A'2—38 to 51 centimeters (15.0 to 20.1 inches); light brownish gray (2.5Y 6/2) crushed and light gray (2.5Y 7/2) broken face very stony sandy loam; 1 percent medium distinct mottles; weak thin platy structure; very firm; brittle; 0.5 fine roots; fragments; strongly acid, pH 5.4, unspecified; abrupt irregular boundary. Lab sample # 40A02194
B'x1—51 to 91 centimeters (20.1 to 35.8 inches); dark grayish brown (10YR 4/2) and grayish brown (10YR 5/2) very stony sandy loam; weak medium subangular blocky, and massive; very firm; brittle; 0.1 roots; fragments; strongly acid, pH 5.2, unspecified; gradual irregular boundary. Lab sample # 40A02195. Within the horizon are local vertical extensions of A'22 material colored light gray (2.5Y 7/2) 1/4 to 1 inch wide as well as discrete pockets of similar material 1/2 to 3 inches in diameter. In a crude fashion very thin bands of light gray (2.5Y 7/2) sand, apparently randomly oriented, form a network enclosing the darker more clayey matrix.
B'x2—91 to 124 centimeters (35.8 to 48.8 inches); brown (10YR 4/3) extremely stony sandy loam; massive; firm; brittle; light gray (10YR 7/2), moist, coats on faces of peds; fragments; strongly acid, pH 5.2, unspecified; diffuse boundary. Lab sample # 40A02196. Few discontinuous cleavage faces coated with light gray (10YR 7/2) very fine sand.
C1—124 to 147 centimeters (48.8 to 57.9 inches); brown (10YR 4/3) extremely stony sandy loam; 1 percent faint mottles; massive; very firm; fragments; strongly acid, pH 5.4, unspecified; gradual wavy boundary. Lab sample # 40A02197
C2—147 to 198 centimeters (57.9 to 78.0 inches); brown (7.5YR 4/2) extremely stony sandy loam; weak and moderate medium platy structure; firm; fragments; moderately acid, pH 5.6, unspecified. Lab sample # 40A02198
