Lab sample # 40A01905; observed in pit, small. Except for structure this is like the horizon below.
BE2—28 to 38 centimeters (11.0 to 15.0 inches); yellowish brown (10YR 5/4), very pale brown (10YR 7/4), dry; gravelly silt loam; weak fine subangular blocky structure; soft; 3.0 fine roots; 15 percent by volume nonflat 2-38-75 millimeter unspecified fragments; very strongly acid, pH 5.0, unspecified; gradual smooth boundary. Lab sample # 40A01906; observed in pit, small
Bt1—38 to 56 centimeters (15.0 to 22.0 inches); yellowish brown (10YR 5/4), very pale brown (10YR 7/3), dry; gravelly loam; weak fine and medium subangular blocky structure; soft; 0.5 fine roots; fragments; very strongly acid, pH 5.0, unspecified; abrupt wavy boundary. Lab sample # 40A01907; observed in pit, small
Btx2—56 to 81 centimeters (22.0 to 31.9 inches); dark grayish brown (10YR 4/2) interior gravelly clay loam; 1 percent dark grayish brown (10YR 4/2) and 21 percent black (10YR 2/1) fine and medium mottles; very coarse prismatic, and weak fine subangular blocky structure; very hard; 0.5 roots; dark grayish brown (10YR 4/2), moist, clay films on faces of peds; fragments; strongly acid, pH 5.4, unspecified; gradual wavy boundary. Lab sample # 40A01908; observed in pit, small. Prisms are separated by 1/4 inch of light olive gray (5Y 6/2) silt loam and have 1/8 inch rims of brown (7.5YR 5/4) silt loam.; discontinuous - phpvsfiid 1563079; discontinuous - phpvsfiid 1563079
Btx3—81 to 122 centimeters (31.9 to 48.0 inches); dark grayish brown (10YR 4/2) interior gravelly clay loam; 1 percent faint and 3 percent black (10YR 2/1) fine and medium mottles; very coarse prismatic, and weak fine subangular blocky structure; very hard; 0.0 roots; prominent dark grayish brown (10YR 4/2), moist, clay films on faces of peds; fragments; strongly acid, pH 5.5, unspecified; gradual wavy boundary. Lab sample # 40A01909; observed in pit, small. Prisms separated by 1/16 to 1/8 inch of light gray (5Y 6/1) silty clay and bounded by a rim colored dark yellowish brown (10YR 4/4).
Btx4—122 to 152 centimeters (48.0 to 59.8 inches); light olive brown (2.5Y 5/3) gravelly clay loam; 3 percent dark yellowish brown (10YR 4/4) medium and 3 percent yellowish brown (10YR 5/4) medium mottles; weak fine angular blocky, and weak very coarse prismatic structure; very hard; 0.0 roots; black (10YR 2/1), moist, coats on faces of peds and very dark grayish brown (10YR 3/2), moist, coats on faces of peds and 10 percent clay films; fragments; moderately acid, pH 5.8, unspecified; gradual wavy boundary. Lab sample # 40A01910; observed in pit, small. discontinuous - phpvsfiid 1563075; discontinuous - phpvsfiid 1563076; discontinuous - phpvsfiid 1563075; discontinuous - phpvsfiid 1563076
BCtx—152 to 188 centimeters (59.8 to 74.0 inches); light olive brown (2.5Y 5/3) gravelly loam; weak medium platy structure; very firm; 0.0 roots; very dark grayish brown (10YR 3/2), moist, coats on faces of peds; fragments; neutral, pH 6.6, unspecified; abrupt wavy boundary. Lab sample # 40A01911; observed in pit, small. Few widely spaced vertical cleavage planes coated with gray (N 6/) silty clay and bounded by 1/4 inch of strong brown (7.5YR 5/6) clay loam extended downward from prisms of horizons above.; discontinuous - phpvsfiid 1563078; discontinuous - phpvsfiid 1563078
Cx—188 to 208 centimeters (74.0 to 81.9 inches); grayish brown (2.5Y 5/2) gravelly clay loam; strong medium platy structure; firm; 0.0 roots; black (10YR 2/1), moist, coats on faces of peds; fragments; slight effervescence. Lab sample # 40A01912; observed in pit, small. Seen only to 82 inches in the dug pit, but in the deep road cut nearby, this oxidized but unleached horizon extends to unoxidized till at an estimated depth of 30 feet. The dark coats in the plates extend to an estimated 15 feet but decrease with depth below 9 feet.
2Cd—1219 to 1250 centimeters (479.9 to 492.1 inches); dark gray (5Y 4/1) gravelly loam; weak medium platy structure; very firm; fragments; slight effervescence. Lab sample # 40A01913; observed in cut. This is believed to be the unoxidized till, like that from which the soil has formed, though it could be an earlier deposit.
