A1—0 to 15 centimeters (0.0 to 5.9 inches); light gray (2.5Y 7/2), grayish brown (2.5Y 5/2), moist; loam; weak very fine granular, and massive; hard when dry, friable, nonsticky, slightly plastic; 0.5 fine roots top of horizon and 0.5 fine roots in cracks; 3.0 very fine and fine tubular and 21.0 very fine interstitial pores; fragments; slight effervescence; abrupt wavy boundary. Lab sample # 40A22505. Reaction not determined in field, see laboratory data; the texture is questionable; it is being mapped fine sandy loam.
B2t—15 to 30 centimeters (5.9 to 11.8 inches); grayish brown (2.5Y 5/2), dark grayish brown (2.5Y 4/2), moist; clay loam; weak coarse prismatic, and moderate medium angular blocky structure; very hard, very firm, slightly sticky, moderately plastic; 0.5 fine roots throughout; 3.0 very fine and fine tubular pores; clay films on faces of peds and 75 percent very dark grayish brown (2.5Y 3/2), moist, pressure faces on faces of peds and 75 percent very dark gray (2.5Y 3/1), moist, pressure faces on faces of peds; fragments; slight effervescence; clear wavy boundary. Lab sample # 40A22506. patchy - phpvsfiid 1695483; patchy - phpvsfiid 1695483
B3t—30 to 53 centimeters (11.8 to 20.9 inches); light brownish gray (2.5Y 6/2), grayish brown (2.5Y 5/2), moist; loam; weak medium subangular blocky structure; very hard, very firm, nonsticky, slightly plastic; 0.5 fine roots throughout; 3.0 very fine and fine tubular pores; clay films on faces of peds and 30 percent dark grayish brown (2.5Y 4/2), moist, organic stains on faces of peds and 30 percent very dark grayish brown (2.5Y 3/2), moist, organic stains on faces of peds; fragments; slight effervescence; abrupt wavy boundary. Lab sample # 40A22507. patchy - phpvsfiid 1695480; patchy - phpvsfiid 1695480
C1sicam—53 to 71 centimeters (20.9 to 28.0 inches); light brownish gray (2.5Y 6/2) and light gray (2.5Y 7/2), light olive brown (2.5Y 5/3) and dark grayish brown (2.5Y 4/2) exterior, moist; 0.1 fine roots; fragments; abrupt wavy boundary. Lab sample # 40A22508. This extremely cemented crusty cementing material appears elsewhere in the hardpan but it is thinner, more lenselike and less continuous than on the upper surface of the hardpan; very thin light colored lime segregations and crusts may also appear on the surface of the hardpan and at various places within the hardpan horizon; the lower portion of the hardpan becomes more platy, lenselike, and fragmental and softer materials are also present; calcareous (amount uncertain) with little if any softening upon treatment with dilute acid.
C2sica—71 to 99 centimeters (28.0 to 39.0 inches); light gray (2.5Y 7/2), light brownish gray (2.5Y 6/2), moist; stratified fine sandy loam to loam; 1 percent yellowish brown (10YR 5/6) fine faint and 1 percent yellowish brown (10YR 5/8) fine faint mottles; massive; hard when dry, firm, nonsticky, slightly plastic; 0.0 roots; 0.5 very fine and fine tubular and 3.0 very fine and fine interstitial pores; fragments; strong effervescence; clear smooth boundary. Lab sample # 40A22509. Most of the lime being softly segregated in a reticulate pattern or in very thin slightly hardened masses and lenses.
C3sica—99 to 160 centimeters (39.0 to 63.0 inches); light gray (2.5Y 7/1), light brownish gray (2.5Y 6/2), moist; stratified fine sand to silt; 1 percent yellowish brown (10YR 5/6) fine faint and 1 percent yellowish brown (10YR 5/8) fine faint and 21 percent strong brown (7.5YR 5/6) fine distinct and 21 percent strong brown (7.5YR 5/8) fine distinct mottles; hard when dry, firm, nonsticky, slightly plastic; 0.0 roots; 3.0 very fine and fine interstitial pores; fragments; slight effervescence; clear smooth boundary. Lab sample # 40A22510. Variable slightly to strongly calcareous in very thin lenses and seams of softly to somewhat hardened lime segregations, probably will average moderately calcareous.
C4—160 centimeters (63.0 inches); light gray (2.5Y 7/1), light brownish gray (2.5Y 6/2), moist; stratified fine sand to silt; 1 percent yellowish brown (10YR 5/6) fine faint and 1 percent yellowish brown (10YR 5/8) fine faint and 21 percent strong brown (7.5YR 5/6) fine distinct and 21 percent strong brown (7.5YR 5/8) fine distinct mottles; hard when dry, firm, nonsticky, slightly plastic; 0.0 roots; 3.0 very fine and fine interstitial pores; fragments; slight effervescence.
