Ap—0 to 18 centimeters (0.0 to 7.1 inches); dark brown (10YR 3/3) gravelly loam; weak medium granular, and very fine subangular blocky structure; friable; 21.0 fine roots; fragments; moderately acid, pH 5.9, unspecified; abrupt wavy boundary. Lab sample # 40A02099
B2—18 to 41 centimeters (7.1 to 16.1 inches); yellowish brown (10YR 5/6) gravelly very fine sandy loam; weak fine subangular blocky parts to weak very fine granular structure; very friable; 3.0 roots; fragments; moderately acid, pH 5.6, unspecified; clear wavy boundary. Lab sample # 40A02100. Roots are of herbaceous plants.
A'2—41 to 51 centimeters (16.1 to 20.1 inches); gravelly very fine sandy loam; moderate medium platy structure; firm; 0.5 roots; rounded 2-39-75 millimeter unspecified fragments and rounded 600-?-? millimeter unspecified fragments; moderately acid, pH 5.6, unspecified; clear wavy boundary. Lab sample # 40A02101. Horizon consists of alternating horizontal bands of pale brown (10YR 6/3) very fine sandy loam, ranging from 1/2 to 1-1/2 inches thick, separated by bands of brown (7.5YR 4/4) slightly sticky very fine sandy loam; the brown bands are discontinuous and pale brown dominates.
B'x1—51 to 76 centimeters (20.1 to 29.9 inches); brown (7.5YR 4/4) gravelly loam; weak medium platy, and thick platy structure; very firm; 0.1 roots; rounded 2-39-75 millimeter sandstone, unspecified fragments; moderately acid, pH 6.0, unspecified; diffuse boundary. Lab sample # 40A02102. Divided into prisms 2 to 3 feet across by vertical bands of light brownish gray very fine sandy loam tapering from 3/4 inch at top to 1/4 inch at bottom and bounded by strong brown (7.5YR 5/6) loam bands less than 1/4 inch wide. Sandstone gravel is red and green with few yellowish brown remnants of weathered sandstone fragments.
B'x2—76 to 104 centimeters (29.9 to 40.9 inches); brown (7.5YR 4/4) gravelly very fine sandy loam; weak medium platy structure; firm; 2-39-75 millimeter sandstone, unspecified fragments and 75-162-250 millimeter sandstone, unspecified fragments; slightly acid, pH 6.1, unspecified; gradual boundary. Lab sample # 40A02103. Sandstone is red and green; divided into 2 to 3 foot prisms by vertical cracks filled with 10YR 6/2 very fine sandy loam.
B'x3—104 to 135 centimeters (40.9 to 53.1 inches); brown (7.5YR 4/3) gravelly very fine sandy loam; weak medium platy structure; firm; rounded 2-39-75 millimeter sandstone, unspecified fragments and 75-162-250 millimeter unspecified fragments; moderately acid, pH 5.9, unspecified; gradual boundary. Lab sample # 40A02104. Sandstone is green and red; few soft weathered fragments of sandstone; includes pockets of fine sandy loam material that is friable; cleavage from above divides horizon into very large prisms.
C1—135 to 185 centimeters (53.1 to 72.8 inches); brown (7.5YR 4/3) gravelly very fine sandy loam; weak medium platy structure; firm; 75-162-250 millimeter unspecified fragments and rounded 2-39-75 millimeter sandstone, unspecified fragments; slightly acid, pH 6.4, unspecified; clear wavy boundary. Lab sample # 40A02105. Sandstone is red and green; vertical cleavage from horizon above stops at top of this horizon; structure like that of basal till.
C2—185 to 216 centimeters (72.8 to 85.0 inches); brown (7.5YR 4/3) gravelly very fine sandy loam; weak medium platy, and thick platy structure; firm; rounded 75-162-250 millimeter sandstone, unspecified fragments; slight effervescence. Lab sample # 40A02106. Sandstone is red and gray; soil material characteristic of firm basal till.
