Ap—0 to 20 centimeters (0.0 to 7.9 inches); very dark grayish brown (10YR 3/2) loamy fine sand; weak very fine granular structure; very friable; 21.0 roots; 21.0 medium pores; fragments; abrupt smooth boundary. Lab sample # 40A02027. Near the boundary of B21 there are some irregular and circular bodies filled with B21 material.
B21—20 to 25 centimeters (7.9 to 9.8 inches); strong brown (7.5YR 5/6) loamy fine sand; weak very fine granular structure; very friable; 3.0 roots; fragments; clear wavy boundary. Lab sample # 40A02028. Some of the Ap material occurs near the boundary with the Ap in irregular and circular bodies.
B22—25 to 41 centimeters (9.8 to 16.1 inches); strong brown (7.5YR 5/6) fine sand; single grain; firm; 0.5 roots; fragments; gradual wavy boundary. Lab sample # 40A02029
B31—41 to 71 centimeters (16.1 to 28.0 inches); yellowish brown (10YR 5/4), light yellowish brown (10YR 6/4), dry; fine sand; single grain; firm; 0.5 roots; fragments; abrupt wavy boundary. Lab sample # 40A02030. This horizon includes one discontinuous, approximately horizontal band consisting of irregular spots, 1/16 to 1/2 inch thick, of strong brown (7.5YR 4/6) material, which does not occupy more than 1 to 2 percent of the mass of the horizon. There is no apparent texture difference between the band material and the remainder of the horizon.
B23—71 to 72 centimeters (28.0 to 28.3 inches); brown (7.5YR 4/4) loamy fine sand; massive; firm; 0.5 roots; fragments; abrupt wavy boundary. Lab sample # 40A02031. Not sampled
B32—72 to 84 centimeters (28.3 to 33.1 inches); yellowish brown (10YR 5/4) fine sand; single grain; firm; fragments; abrupt wavy boundary. Lab sample # 40A02032
B24—84 to 85 centimeters (33.1 to 33.5 inches); 50 percent dark reddish brown (5YR 3/4) and 50 percent brown (7.5YR 4/4) loamy fine sand; massive; firm; fragments; abrupt wavy boundary. Lab sample # 40A02033. Not sampled; material is banded with dark reddish brown loamy fine sand about 1/16 inch thick, and (7.5YR 4/4) loamy fine sand. This major band branches into 2 bands, one continuous and one discontinuous. The latter cuts through a part of the horizon below, is wavy and consists of spots of irregular-shaped bodies. These spots sometimes reach 1/4 inch in thickness.
B33—85 to 97 centimeters (33.5 to 38.2 inches); brown (10YR 5/3) fine sand; single grain; firm; 0.5 roots; fragments; abrupt wavy boundary. Lab sample # 40A02034
B25—97 to 98 centimeters (38.2 to 38.6 inches); 50 percent brown (7.5YR 4/4) and 50 percent dark reddish brown (5YR 3/4) loamy fine sand; massive; firm; fragments; abrupt wavy boundary. Lab sample # 40A02035. Not sampled; similar to B24. Consists of bands within the major band.
B34—98 to 112 centimeters (38.6 to 44.1 inches); brown (10YR 5/3) fine sand; single grain; firm; fragments; abrupt wavy boundary. Lab sample # 40A02036. Similar to the interband material described above under B33.
B26—112 to 113 centimeters (44.1 to 44.5 inches); dark reddish brown (5YR 3/4) and brown (7.5YR 4/4) loamy fine sand; massive; firm; fragments; abrupt wavy boundary. Lab sample # 40A02037. Not sampled; same as bands in B24 and B25.
B35—113 to 124 centimeters (44.5 to 48.8 inches); brown (7.5YR 5/4) fine sand; single grain; firm; fragments; abrupt wavy boundary. Lab sample # 40A02038. This horizon includes one very thin discontinuous band of material like B24.
B27—124 to 126 centimeters (48.8 to 49.6 inches); brown (7.5YR 4/4) loamy fine sand; massive; firm; fragments; abrupt wavy boundary. Lab sample # 40A02039. Not sampled.
C1—126 to 160 centimeters (49.6 to 63.0 inches); brown (7.5YR 5/4) fine sand; 21 percent strong brown (7.5YR 5/6) medium faint mottles; single grain; firm; 0.5 roots; fragments; gradual wavy boundary. Lab sample # 40A02040
C2—160 to 203 centimeters (63.0 to 79.9 inches); brown (7.5YR 5/3) fine sand; 1 percent black (10YR 2/1) coarse and 3 percent strong brown (7.5YR 5/8) medium and coarse distinct and 3 percent dark reddish brown (2.5YR 3/4) medium and coarse distinct mottles; firm; fragments. Lab sample # 40A02041
