A—0 to 13 centimeters (0.0 to 5.1 inches); dark brown (10YR 3/3) gravelly clay loam; moderate fine subangular blocky parts to moderate medium granular structure; slightly hard, friable, slightly sticky, slightly plastic; 3.0 fine roots; fragments; neutral, pH 7.0, unspecified; clear smooth boundary. B—13 to 25 centimeters (5.1 to 9.8 inches); dark brown (7.5YR 3/2) Error; massive parts to weak fine subangular blocky; slightly hard, firm, slightly sticky, slightly plastic; 0.5 roots; fragments; slight effervescence wavy boundary. Lab sample # 40A04087. 50:50 ratio in texture materials; pockets of soil have the weak fine subangular blocky structure.
C—25 to 46 centimeters (9.8 to 18.1 inches); fragments. Lab sample # 40A04088. Mixed volcanic, mudstone and limestone rock with pockets of clayey material similar to that of the B and occasional seams of secondary carbonates. Below this horizon there is hard volcanic rock which is difficult to dig with a spade.
R—46 to 50 centimeters (18.1 to 19.7 inches); fragments. Lab sample # 40A04089. Hard volcanic rock that cannot be broken easily with a spade.
