Ap—0 to 20 centimeters (0.0 to 7.9 inches); dark brown (10YR 3/3), light brownish gray (10YR 6/2), dry; channery silt loam; moderate medium granular structure; friable; 21.0 very fine and fine roots; 5 percent by volume 75-162-250 millimeter unspecified fragments; slightly acid, pH 6.4, bromthymol blue; abrupt smooth boundary. Lab sample # 40A01898. Roots hold the granule together when the soil is removed.
B2—20 to 46 centimeters (7.9 to 18.1 inches); yellowish brown (10YR 5/4), light yellowish brown (10YR 6/4), dry; gravelly silt loam; weak very fine and fine subangular blocky structure; very friable; 21.0 fine roots; 3 percent by volume 75-162-250 millimeter unspecified fragments; strongly acid, pH 5.2, chlorophenol red; abrupt wavy boundary. Lab sample # 40A01899. Blocks have smooth faces but without cutans; 8 to 12 inches thick exclusive of a pocket that extends into IIA'2x on one side of the pit and which appears to be an old channel filled with mixed B2 and A'2 material.
IIA'2x—46 to 53 centimeters (18.1 to 20.9 inches); grayish brown (2.5Y 5/2), light brownish gray (2.5Y 6/2), dry; gravelly loam, fine sand; 1 percent yellowish brown (10YR 5/4) distinct and 3 percent yellowish brown (10YR 5/4) medium faint mottles; moderate thick platy structure; 0.5 fine roots; 10 percent by volume 75-162-250 millimeter unspecified fragments; moderately acid, pH 5.6, chlorophenol red; clear irregular boundary. Lab sample # 40A01900. Plates have clean sand grains on faces; a V-shaped tongue 2 inches wide at 21 inch tapers to 1/2 inch wide at 30 inches; plate faces and pores lack clay cutans.
IIB'x1—53 to 86 centimeters (20.9 to 33.9 inches); olive brown (2.5Y 4/3) loam; massive parts to coarse angular blocky; very firm; 0.1 fine roots; grayish brown (2.5Y 5/2), moist, clay films on faces of peds; fragments; moderately acid, pH 5.8, chlorophenol red; gradual wavy boundary. Lab sample # 40A01901. Upward extensions of IIB'2x are 70 percent of the mass and are surrounded by 2.5Y 4/3 loam higher in fine sand and lower in clay, which are adjacent to tongues of IIA'2.
IIB'x2—86 to 137 centimeters (33.9 to 53.9 inches); dark grayish brown (2.5Y 4/2) loam; weak coarse subangular blocky structure; firm; 21.0 fine pores; grayish brown (2.5Y 5/2), moist, silt coats on faces of peds and clay films on faces of peds and 30 percent clay films in root channels and/or pores; 15 percent by volume 75-162-250 millimeter unspecified fragments; neutral, pH 6.8, bromthymol blue; abrupt wavy boundary. Lab sample # 40A01902. Discontinuous cleavage faces, both vertical and horizontal, semi-cylindrical depression and 1 to 1-1/2 mm sinuous half-tubules within a network of microridges, crests of some which appear to have been pressed against adjacent face.; continuous - phpvsfiid 183926; continuous - phpvsfiid 183926
IIC—137 to 157 centimeters (53.9 to 61.8 inches); dark grayish brown (2.5Y 4/2) loam; weak medium and coarse platy structure; firm; clay films in root channels and/or pores and coats in root channels and/or pores; fragments. Lab sample # 40A01903. No coats on plate faces in upper 8 inches.
