Ap1—0 to 10 centimeters (0.0 to 3.9 inches); yellowish brown (10YR 5/4) interior silt loam; weak medium platy, and weak and moderate very fine and fine granular structure; friable; 0.5 very fine roots; fragments; clear smooth boundary. Lab sample # 86P1037. The horizon contains about 15% by volume of fragments of Bt horizon that have been mixed in by deep plowing. Moist color of rubbed material is the same as for non-rubbed.; few very fine roots
Ap2—10 to 28 centimeters (3.9 to 11.0 inches); yellowish brown (10YR 5/4) interior silt loam; weak medium subangular blocky, and moderate fine granular structure; friable; 0.5 very fine roots; fragments; abrupt smooth boundary. Lab sample # 86P1038. Granular structure is primarily earthworm casts. Fragments of Bt horizon about 2 to 10 cm in diameter that occupy about 20% by volume locally.; few very fine roots
Bt—28 to 44 centimeters (11.0 to 17.3 inches); yellowish brown (10YR 5/6) interior silt loam; 30 percent brown (10YR 5/3) faint mottles; weak very coarse prismatic, and weak and moderate fine subangular blocky structure; friable; 0.5 very fine roots and 2.5 roots between peds; fragments; clear smooth boundary. Lab sample # 86P1039. few very fine roots; common roots between peds; many faint 10YR53 mottles
Btx1—44 to 54 centimeters (17.3 to 21.3 inches); yellowish brown (10YR 5/6) interior silty clay loam; 11 percent brown (10YR 5/3) distinct and 11 percent dark grayish brown (10YR 4/2) and 11 percent brown (10YR 4/3) mottles; moderate very coarse prismatic, and weak and moderate platy structure; firm; brittle; 2.5 very fine roots; fragments; abrupt smooth boundary. Lab sample # 86P1040. Mottles associated with ped faces with the darker mottles being argillans and with many faint (7.5YR 5/8) rims inside of peds. The horizon was quite moist when described. There is a clay seam that forms the lower boundary of this horizon loc; common very fine roots; common distinct 10YR53 mottles; common micro 10YR42 mottles; common micro 10YR43 mottles
Btx2—54 to 79 centimeters (21.3 to 31.1 inches); yellowish brown (10YR 5/4) interior and yellowish brown (10YR 5/6) interior clay loam; moderate very coarse prismatic structure; very firm; brittle; 2.5 very fine roots; fragments; gradual wavy boundary. Lab sample # 86P1041. (10YR 4/3-4/3 and 5/3) ped faces with (7.5YR 5/6-6/8) rims. Structure has a tendency to break to medium plates but plate faces are not of different color nor do they appear to have argillans in this horizon.; common very fine roots
Btx3—79 to 103 centimeters (31.1 to 40.6 inches); clay loam; weak very coarse prismatic structure; very firm; brittle; fragments; gradual smooth boundary. Lab sample # 86P1042
Btx4—103 to 143 centimeters (40.6 to 56.3 inches); yellowish red (5YR 4/6) interior and strong brown (7.5YR 5/6) interior clay loam; weak very coarse prismatic structure; firm; brittle; fragments. Lab sample # 86P1043. Varigated colors in a coarse to very coarse mottling pattern. Rests on gravelly material that is mostly cemented with iron oxides into a thick (e.g. 10 cm) ironstone under most parts of the pedon.
