Lab sample # 93P01828, 93P01834. Similar to description in layer 7, except BCt is 70% and Bt is 30% of pit face. No secondary prismatic structure.; discontinuous - phpvsfiid 174324; discontinuous - phpvsfiid 174324
2BCt/Bt—140 to 211 centimeters (55.1 to 83.1 inches); 10 percent yellowish brown (10YR 5/6) clay loam; fragments; very slight effervescence, by hcl, 1n; gradual smooth boundary. Lab sample # 93P01829

Lab sample # 93P01829. 90% of pit face is BCt and 10% is Bt. Bt is tongues. Vertical prism faces of the BCt have a 1"""" wide weathering zone. Primary prisms are 14-20"""" wide, and part to secondary prisms 2-4"""" wide. There is no platiness. Primary prisms have (2.5Y 4/2) common discontinuous cutans. On the inside of the cutans toward the prism interiors is a zone about 1-2 mm thick of (10YR 5/2) material which appears to be a zone of reduction. Another zone adjacent to the (10YR 5/2) color is (10YR 5/6), again about 1-2 mm thick which blends into the (10YR 5/4) prism interiors. Secondary prisms have common discontinuous (10YR 4/2) cutans with weak medium sbk structure.; discontinuous - phpvsfiid 174326; discontinuous - phpvsfiid 174327; discontinuous - phpvsfiid 174326; discontinuous - phpvsfiid 174327

Lab sample # 93P01831. The 3C/Bt horizon consists of dominantly (about 90%) of C material with tongues of Bt. The Bt part is (10YR 3/4) sandy loam. The Bt is discontinuous across the base of the 2BCt at 118". Tongues are related to major prism faces which extend vertically from the layer above. Most tongues are about 5" across and may extend up to 8" into the 3C material. One large tongue was 24" across. Bt part was subsampled as part of 3C/Bt horizon.
