    A—0 to 5 centimeters (0.0 to 2.0 inches); brown (10YR 4/3), very dark brown (10YR 2/2), moist; very gravelly coarse sandy loam; single grain; loose, nonsticky, nonplastic; 0.5 very fine roots; 35 percent by volume 2-39-75 millimeter unspecified fragments; neutral, pH 6.6, hellige-truog; abrupt smooth boundary. Lab sample # 97P00099. 1 to 2 inches thick. The A horizon has values of 4 or 5 dry, 2 or 3 moist; and chroma of 2 or 3. It has 1 to 3 percent organic matter. It has 35 to 50 percent gravel size cinders.

Strongly effervescent with disseminated lime.
    Bkqm2—69 to 76 centimeters (27.2 to 29.9 inches); light gray (10YR 7/2) and white (10YR 8/1) and very pale brown (10YR 7/4), light yellowish brown (10YR 6/4) and very pale brown (10YR 7/4), moist; fragments; violent effervescence; abrupt smooth boundary.
