  • Location Description: Housing area on former Williams Field Air Force Base dating from the 1950's. Each pit was dug in the center of a different communal area in between the houses. Now rental residence housing on Arizona State University's East Campus. These areas are having experimental residental landscapes installed in the communal areas sampled, along with the yards of the six houses adjacent to each other. The effects of the landscaping on variables such as: soil chemistry, soil respiration rates, soil trace gas flux rates, microclimate, landscape water use, arthropod diversity, bird diversity, human perceptions and behaviours, will be monitored.
