Lab sample # 05N02938; observed in trench. moist Dry color was not evaluated at the initial description. Don Gastineau returned to the pit site 5-12-05, removed 4 inches of surface from the location of the original pit face, dried that sample, crushed & smoothed that sample and observed the color to be 10YR 5/2. A sample from the upper 2 inches of the adjacent cultivated field (75 ft north of pit) was collected, dried, crushed and smoothed. That sample had a color of 10YR 6/2.
