Ap1—0 to 5 centimeters (0.0 to 2.0 inches); black (10YR 2/1) broken face loam; moderate medium subangular blocky parts to moderate medium granular structure; friable; fragments; noneffervescent, by hcl, 1n; gradual smooth boundary.; moist when described; observed in push tube. Surface horizon separated per project sampling guidelines (Science of Soil Health, DSP). Bulk samples were collected for KSSL and UMN analysis for the following depths: 0-5cm, 5-10cm, and remainder of the A horizon. A horizon desinations have been populated to reflect these depths (Ap1, Ap2, Ap3 etc.)
Ap2—5 to 10 centimeters (2.0 to 3.9 inches); black (10YR 2/1) broken face loam; moderate medium subangular blocky parts to moderate medium granular structure; friable; fragments; noneffervescent, by hcl, 1n; gradual smooth boundary.; moist when described; observed in push tube.
Ap3—10 to 20 centimeters (3.9 to 7.9 inches); black (10YR 2/1) broken face loam; moderate medium subangular blocky parts to moderate medium granular structure; friable; fragments; noneffervescent, by hcl, 1n; gradual smooth boundary.; moist when described; observed in push tube.
BA—20 to 35 centimeters (7.9 to 13.8 inches); very dark grayish brown (10YR 3/2) broken face loam; weak fine subangular blocky structure; friable; 40 percent black (10YR 2/1), moist, organic stains on all faces of peds; fragments; noneffervescent, by hcl, 1n; gradual smooth boundary.; moist when described; observed in push tube
2Bw1—35 to 61 centimeters (13.8 to 24.0 inches); yellowish brown (10YR 5/4) broken face loam; weak medium subangular blocky structure; friable; 10 percent fine yellowish brown (10YR 5/6), moist, masses of oxidized iron and 10 percent fine grayish brown (10YR 5/2), moist, iron depletions; 5 percent by volume nonflat rounded strongly coherent cemented 2-?-30 millimeter mixed fragments observed by visual inspection method; noneffervescent, by hcl, 1n; clear smooth boundary.; moist when described; observed in push tube. This horizon is a thick weak stone line commonly found at the top of the till.
2Bw2—61 to 100 centimeters (24.0 to 39.4 inches); yellowish brown (10YR 5/4) broken face loam; weak medium subangular blocky structure; friable; 15 percent medium yellowish brown (10YR 5/6), moist, masses of oxidized iron and 15 percent medium grayish brown (10YR 5/2), moist, iron depletions; 5 percent by volume nonflat rounded strongly coherent cemented 2-?-6 millimeter mixed fragments observed by visual inspection method; noneffervescent, by hcl, 1n; clear smooth boundary.; moist when described; observed in push tube
2Bw3—100 to 200 centimeters (39.4 to 78.7 inches); yellowish brown (10YR 5/4) broken face loam; weak medium subangular blocky structure; friable; 20 percent coarse yellowish brown (10YR 5/6), moist, masses of oxidized iron and 20 percent coarse gray (10YR 6/1), moist, iron depletions; 3 percent light gray (10YR 7/2), moist, and white (10YR 8/1), moist, carbonate masses between peds and carbonate, finely disseminated and 2 percent light gray (10YR 7/2), moist, and white (10YR 8/1), moist, carbonate masses on bottom of rock fragments; 5 percent by volume nonflat rounded strongly coherent cemented 2-?-30 millimeter mixed fragments observed by visual inspection method; strong effervescence, by hcl, 1n.; moist when described; observed in push tube
