Ap1—0 to 5 centimeters (0.0 to 2.0 inches); black (10YR 2/1) broken face clay loam; moderate medium subangular blocky parts to moderate fine granular, and moderate medium subangular blocky parts to moderate medium granular structure; friable; fragments; noneffervescent, by hcl, 1n; clear smooth boundary.; moist when described; observed in push tube. Surface horizon separated per project sampling guidelines (Science of Soil Health, DSP). Bulk samples were collected for KSSL and UMN analysis for the following depths: 0-5cm, 5-10cm, and remainder of the A horizon. A horizon desinations have been populated to reflect these depths (Ap1, Ap2, Ap3 etc.)
Ap2—5 to 10 centimeters (2.0 to 3.9 inches); black (10YR 2/1) broken face clay loam; moderate medium subangular blocky parts to moderate fine granular, and moderate medium subangular blocky parts to moderate medium granular structure; friable; fragments; noneffervescent, by hcl, 1n; clear smooth boundary.; moist when described; observed in push tube.
Ap3—10 to 22 centimeters (3.9 to 8.7 inches); black (10YR 2/1) broken face clay loam; moderate medium subangular blocky parts to moderate fine granular, and moderate medium subangular blocky parts to moderate medium granular structure; friable; fragments; noneffervescent, by hcl, 1n; clear smooth boundary.; moist when described; observed in push tube. A horizon desinations have been populated to reflect these depths (Ap1, Ap2, Ap3 etc.)
AB—22 to 53 centimeters (8.7 to 20.9 inches); very dark grayish brown (10YR 3/2) broken face clay loam; moderate medium subangular blocky structure; friable; fragments; noneffervescent, by hcl, 1n; clear wavy boundary.; moist when described; observed in push tube
Bw1—53 to 80 centimeters (20.9 to 31.5 inches); dark yellowish brown (10YR 4/6) broken face clay loam; weak medium prismatic parts to weak medium subangular blocky structure; friable; manganese masses and 40 percent dark gray (10YR 4/1), moist, iron depletions; 2 percent by volume nonflat rounded strongly coherent cemented 2-20-76 millimeter mixed fragments observed by visual inspection method; noneffervescent, by hcl, 1n; gradual wavy boundary.; moist when described; observed in push tube
Bw2—80 to 110 centimeters (31.5 to 43.3 inches); yellowish brown (10YR 5/6) broken face clay loam; weak medium prismatic, and weak coarse prismatic structure; firm; 3 percent strong brown (7.5YR 4/6), moist, masses of oxidized iron and 3 percent manganese masses and 30 percent gray (10YR 5/1), moist, iron depletions; carbonate, finely disseminated; 3 percent by volume nonflat rounded strongly coherent cemented 2-20-76 millimeter mixed fragments observed by visual inspection method; very slight effervescence, by hcl, 1n; abrupt wavy boundary.; moist when described; observed in push tube
2C—110 to 230 centimeters (43.3 to 90.6 inches); yellowish brown (10YR 5/6) broken face clay loam; structureless massive; firm; 3 percent yellowish red (5YR 4/6), moist, masses of oxidized iron and 20 percent gray (2.5Y 6/1), moist, iron depletions; carbonate, finely disseminated and 3 percent threadlike carbonate masses; 5 percent by volume nonflat rounded strongly coherent cemented 2-20-76 millimeter mixed fragments observed by visual inspection method; slight effervescence, by hcl, 1n.; moist when described; observed in push tube. contact at 130 - area of perching high MNM accumulation, saturated/sloppy soil, thin sand line above MNM
