Ap—0 to 11 centimeters (0.0 to 4.3 inches);, dark brown (7.5YR 3/3) broken face, moist; fine sandy loam; 17 percent clay; weak fine subangular blocky structure; soft, very friable, slightly sticky, nonplastic; moderate permeability; 1.0 very fine roots throughout; fragments; noneffervescent, by hcl, 1n; abrupt smooth boundary. Lab sample # KSUSS4241; observed in push tube. This pedon had unmistakeable mollic color to 13 cm. With mixing to 18 cm, I decided this pedon would make mollic criteria.
Bt—11 to 35 centimeters (4.3 to 13.8 inches);, dark brown (7.5YR 3/3) broken face, moist; sandy clay loam; 21 percent clay; weak medium subangular blocky structure; soft, very friable, moderately sticky, very plastic; moderate permeability; 1.0 very fine roots throughout; 10 percent distinct clay bridges between sand grains; fragments; noneffervescent, by hcl, 1n; abrupt smooth boundary. Lab sample # KSUSS4242; observed in push tube. discontinuous - phpvsfiid 402453; discontinuous - phpvsfiid 402453
2Bk1—35 to 89 centimeters (13.8 to 35.0 inches);, yellowish brown (10YR 5/4) broken face, moist; silt loam; 16 percent clay; moderate medium prismatic structure; soft, very friable, slightly sticky, very plastic; moderate permeability; 1.0 very fine roots throughout; 1.0 fine moderate-continuity tubular pores; 10 percent medium irregular carbonate masses in matrix; fragments; strong effervescence, by hcl, 1n; clear smooth boundary.; observed in push tube
2Bk2—89 to 133 centimeters (35.0 to 52.4 inches);, yellowish brown (10YR 5/4) broken face, moist; silt loam; 16 percent clay; weak coarse prismatic structure; soft, very friable, slightly sticky, moderately plastic; moderate permeability; 1.0 very fine low-continuity tubular pores; 2 percent fine irregular carbonate masses in matrix; fragments; strong effervescence, by hcl, 1n; gradual smooth boundary.; observed in push tube
3Bk3—133 to 217 centimeters (52.4 to 85.4 inches);, strong brown (7.5YR 5/6) broken face, moist; silt loam; 22 percent clay; weak coarse prismatic structure; slightly hard, friable, moderately sticky, moderately plastic; moderate permeability; 1.0 very fine low-continuity tubular pores; 1 percent fine spherical carbonate nodules in matrix and 4 percent medium irregular carbonate masses in matrix; fragments; strong effervescence, by hcl, 1n; abrupt smooth boundary.; observed in push tube
4Bk4—217 to 230 centimeters (85.4 to 90.6 inches);, brown (7.5YR 4/4) broken face, moist; loam; 20 percent clay; weak fine subangular blocky structure; soft, very friable, slightly sticky, moderately plastic; moderate permeability; 2 percent fine irregular carbonate masses in matrix; fragments; strong effervescence, by hcl, 1n.; observed in push tube
