Ap—0 to 10 centimeters (0.0 to 3.9 inches); very dark grayish brown (10YR 3/2) silt loam; strong fine granular structure; friable; fragments; neutral, pH 7.0, pH indicator solutions. Lab sample # OSU0009562. This subhorizon was split for sampling. The pedon description reports this horizon and the 10-36cm below are one horizon 0-36cm, Ap.
Ap—10 to 36 centimeters (3.9 to 14.2 inches); very dark grayish brown (10YR 3/2) silt loam; strong fine granular structure; friable; fragments; neutral, pH 7.0, pH indicator solutions; gradual smooth boundary. Lab sample # OSU0009563. This subhorizon was split for sampling. The pedon description reports this horizon and the 0-10cm above are one horizon 0-36cm, Ap.
A—36 to 56 centimeters (14.2 to 22.0 inches); dark brown (10YR 3/3) silt loam; moderate fine granular structure; friable; common (3.0) roots; fragments; slightly acid, pH 6.2, pH indicator solutions; clear smooth boundary. Lab sample # OSU0009564. This horizon was designated C1 in the publication. We assume it is an A horizon because of color and granular structure. Roots were quantified as plentiful.
Cg—56 to 71 centimeters (22.0 to 28.0 inches); dark gray (10YR 4/1) silt loam; massive; friable; common (2.0) roots; 33 percent fine distinct dark yellowish brown (10YR 3/4), moist, masses of oxidized iron; fragments; moderately acid, pH 6.0, pH indicator solutions; abrupt smooth boundary. Lab sample # OSU0009565. This horizon was designated C2 in publication, switched here to Cg beacuse of matrix color. The oxidized iron redox feature color is described as 10YR 3/4, but 10YR 3/3 crushed in the publication. Roots were quantified as plentiful.
C1—71 to 84 centimeters (28.0 to 33.1 inches); pale brown (10YR 6/3) loam; massive; friable; common (2.0) roots; 27 percent medium prominent dark reddish brown (5YR 3/4), moist, masses of oxidized iron and 33 percent medium distinct gray (10YR 5/1), moist, iron depletions; fragments; moderately acid, pH 5.8, pH indicator solutions; abrupt smooth boundary. Lab sample # OSU0009566. This horizon was designated C3 in the publication, changed here to C1 because of new designations above. Roots quantified as plentiful.
Cg2—84 to 107 centimeters (33.1 to 42.1 inches); pale brown (10YR 6/3) sandy loam; massive; friable; 27 percent medium distinct yellowish brown (10YR 5/6), moist, masses of oxidized iron and 33 percent medium distinct gray (10YR 5/1), moist, iron depletions; fragments; moderately acid, pH 6.0, pH indicator solutions. Lab sample # OSU0009567. This horizon was designated C4 in the publication, changed here to C2 because of new designations in the horizons above.
