Ap—0 to 20 centimeters (0.0 to 7.9 inches); dark grayish brown (10YR 4/2) Error; fine and medium subangular blocky structure; 1 percent medium distinct brownish yellow (10YR 6/6), moist, masses of oxidized iron; fragments; neutral, pH 6.8; abrupt boundary. Lab sample # OSU0010594. Dry color 10YR 6/2; mottles appear to be material from lower horizon mixed in by plowing; Hard when dry.
E—20 to 30 centimeters (7.9 to 11.8 inches); dark grayish brown (10YR 4/2) Error; light yellowish brown (10YR 6/4), moist, masses of oxidized iron and brown (10YR 5/3), moist, masses of oxidized iron and 11 percent medium distinct brownish yellow (10YR 6/6), moist, masses of oxidized iron; fragments; neutral, pH 6.6; gradual boundary. Lab sample # OSU0010595. Hard when dry; appears to be transition from A to B horizons, but looks and feels more like A than B. Structure is weaker than underlying horizons.
BEg—30 to 43 centimeters (11.8 to 16.9 inches); grayish brown (10YR 5/2) Error; strong fine and medium subangular blocky structure; firm; yellowish brown (10YR 5/8), moist, masses of oxidized iron and brownish yellow (10YR 6/6), moist, masses of oxidized iron and 11 percent medium distinct yellowish brown (10YR 5/6), moist, masses of oxidized iron; fragments; slightly acid, pH 6.2; gradual boundary. Lab sample # OSU0010596
Btg1—43 to 71 centimeters (16.9 to 28.0 inches); gray (10YR 5/1) Error; moderate medium subangular blocky structure; very firm; yellowish brown (10YR 5/4), moist, masses of oxidized iron and dark yellowish brown (10YR 4/4), moist, masses of oxidized iron and 11 percent medium distinct yellowish brown (10YR 5/6), moist, masses of oxidized iron; fragments; neutral, pH 6.6. Lab sample # OSU0010597. Numerous crystalline pebbles that indicate that this horizon is weathered from till; no distinct boundary evident between horizon weathered from till and silt cap if one is present.
Btg2—71 to 102 centimeters (28.0 to 40.2 inches); gray (10YR 6/1) Error; weak medium subangular blocky structure; yellowish brown (10YR 5/6), moist, masses of oxidized iron and dark gray (7.5YR 4/1), moist, masses of reduced iron and 1 percent iron-manganese concretions and 33 percent medium distinct yellowish brown (10YR 5/4), moist, masses of oxidized iron; fragments. Lab sample # OSU0010598. Some indication of prismatic orientation. A few crystalline pebbles greater than 2 mm; neutral. This and the next 5 horizons should probably be called part of the lower B2 horizon. the profile between 40 and 90? was sampled with an orcard auger and it was
Btg3—102 to 122 centimeters (40.2 to 48.0 inches); gray (10YR 6/1) Error; brownish yellow (10YR 6/6), moist, masses of oxidized iron and 33 percent medium prominent yellowish brown (10YR 5/6), moist, masses of oxidized iron; fragments; neutral, pH 6.6. Lab sample # OSU0010599. Roots and root channels present. Numerous small pebbles 1/4 to 1/2? in diameter.
Btg4—122 to 152 centimeters (48.0 to 59.8 inches); strong brown (7.5YR 5/6) Error; yellowish brown (10YR 5/6), moist, masses of reduced iron and 33 percent iron-manganese concretions and 33 percent coarse prominent gray (10YR 6/1), moist, masses of reduced iron; fragments. Lab sample # OSU0010600. Neutral. The 10YR 6/1 colors occur in bands about 1/2? thick and appear to be thick clay flows.
Btg5—152 to 168 centimeters (59.8 to 66.1 inches); gray (10YR 5/1) and gray (10YR 6/1) Error; brownish yellow (10YR 6/6), moist, masses of oxidized iron and 11 percent medium prominent yellowish brown (10YR 5/6), moist, masses of oxidized iron; fragments. Lab sample # OSU0010601. A few, very dark grayish brown streaks that may be small Mn concretions; gray colors appear to be clay flows; neutral.
Btg6—168 to 188 centimeters (66.1 to 74.0 inches); strong brown (7.5YR 5/6) Error; 33 percent coarse prominent gray (10YR 5/1), moist, masses of reduced iron; fragments. Lab sample # OSU0010602. Matrix color given only as ?strong brown?. Gray mottles may be clay flows; neutral.
