Ap—0 to 18 centimeters (0.0 to 7.1 inches); brown (10YR 4/3) and brown (10YR 5/3) Error; medium and coarse granular structure; friable; fragments; slightly acid, pH 6.2; abrupt wavy boundary. Lab sample # OSU0010673. Color flecked with 10YR 5/6, probably due to incorporation of subsoil material into the plow layer. Structure not readily apparent. Waviness of lower boundary probably due to irregularities in the plow sole.
E—18 to 23 centimeters (7.1 to 9.1 inches); brownish yellow (10YR 6/6) and yellowish brown (10YR 5/4) Error; platy structure; friable; 3.0 fine pores; 11 percent fine faint yellowish brown (10YR 5/6), moist, masses of oxidized iron; fragments; moderately acid, pH 5.8; clear wavy boundary. Lab sample # OSU0010674. The horizon ranges from 1 to 2 inches in thickness.
BE—23 to 48 centimeters (9.1 to 18.9 inches); yellowish brown (10YR 5/4) Error; moderate medium subangular blocky structure; friable; 3.0 fine pores; faint yellowish red (5YR 4/6), moist, clay films and yellow (10YR 7/6), moist, silt coats; fragments; very strongly acid, pH 5.0; clear smooth boundary. Lab sample # OSU0010675. Concentration of generally flat stone fragments (stoneline?) along lower boundary.; discontinuous - phpvsfiid 976728; discontinuous - phpvsfiid 976729; discontinuous - phpvsfiid 976728; discontinuous - phpvsfiid 976729
B1—48 to 56 centimeters (18.9 to 22.0 inches); 5YR 4/8 (5YR 4/8) and strong brown (7.5YR 5/6) Error; strong medium angular blocky structure; firm; faint yellowish red (5YR 4/6), moist, clay films and yellow (10YR 7/6), moist, silt coats; fragments; very strongly acid, pH 4.8; gradual smooth boundary. Lab sample # OSU0010676. Ped interiors are variegated 5YR 4/8 and 10YR 5/6.; discontinuous - phpvsfiid 976730; discontinuous - phpvsfiid 976731; discontinuous - phpvsfiid 976730; discontinuous - phpvsfiid 976731
B2—56 to 66 centimeters (22.0 to 26.0 inches); strong brown (7.5YR 5/6) and reddish yellow (7.5YR 6/8) Error; moderate coarse prismatic, and moderate angular blocky structure; very firm; faint yellowish red (5YR 4/6), moist, clay films and faint very pale brown (10YR 7/4), moist, silt coats; fragments; very strongly acid, pH 4.6. Lab sample # OSU0010677. Ped interiors are variegated 7.5YR 5/6 and 5YR 5/8. A thin 1 to 2 inch stratum of flat fine grained sandstone constitutes the lower boundary of the horizon. This stratum is broken and partially weathered but is easily recognized.; patchy - phpvsfiid 976732; discontinuous - phpvsfiid 976733; patchy - phpvsfiid 976732; discontinuous - phpvsfiid 976733
B3—66 to 79 centimeters (26.0 to 31.1 inches); strong brown (7.5YR 5/6) and reddish yellow (7.5YR 6/8) Error; moderate coarse prismatic, and moderate angular blocky structure; very firm; faint yellowish red (5YR 4/6), moist, clay films and faint very pale brown (10YR 7/4), moist, silt coats; fragments; very strongly acid, pH 4.6; clear smooth boundary. Lab sample # OSU0010678. Ped interiors are variegated 7.5YR 5/6 and 5YR 5/8. A thin 1 to 2 inch stratum of flat fine grained sandstone constitutes the lower boundary of the horizon. BC—79 to 104 centimeters (31.1 to 40.9 inches); yellowish red (5YR 5/8) and reddish yellow (5YR 6/8) Error; coarse angular blocky structure; firm; faint yellowish red (5YR 4/6), moist, clay films on faces of peds; fragments; very strongly acid, pH 4.6; gradual smooth boundary. Lab sample # OSU0010679. Ped interiors are variegated 5YR 5/8 and 10YR 5/6. Some old root channels present.; patchy - phpvsfiid 976736; patchy - phpvsfiid 976736
C—104 to 127 centimeters (40.9 to 50.0 inches); reddish yellow (5YR 6/8) and red (2.5YR 5/6) Error; firm; faint yellowish red (5YR 4/6), moist, clay films; fragments; extremely acid, pH 4.4; gradual smooth boundary. Lab sample # OSU0010680. Red color (2.5YR 5/6) is more prominently expressed in this horizon than in either the above or underlying horizons. Ped interiors are also variegated with 5YR 5/8 and 10YR 5/6. Structureless but surfaces parallel the bedding planes of interbedded shale a
