0 to 137 centimeters (0.0 to 53.9 inches); fragments. Not described or sampled.
137 to 157 centimeters (53.9 to 61.8 inches); strong brown (7.5YR 5/6) and yellowish brown (10YR 5/4) Error; weak medium platy structure; 10 percent black (10YR 2/1), moist, manganese coatings; fragments; gradual smooth boundary. Lab sample # OSU0019950. Equal mixture of matrix colors. Platy structure may be the result of compaction by road building machinery. Abundant very fine mica flakes. Noncalcareous.
157 to 185 centimeters (61.8 to 72.8 inches); strong brown (7.5YR 5/6) and yellowish brown (10YR 5/4) Error; 10 percent black (10YR 2/1), moist, manganese coatings; fragments; abrupt smooth boundary. Lab sample # OSU0019951. Equal mixture of matrix colors. Abundant very fine mica flakes. Noncalcareous.
185 to 213 centimeters (72.8 to 83.9 inches); yellowish brown (10YR 5/4) and brown (10YR 4/3) Error; massive; fragments; slight effervescence; abrupt smooth boundary. Lab sample # OSU0019952. Matrix colors in bands 1-3 mm thick that seem to represent color rather than distinct textural banding. Banding is nearly parallel. Darker bands appear to have more Fe-Mn patches.
213 to 251 centimeters (83.9 to 98.8 inches); yellowish brown (10YR 5/4) Error; massive, and platy; 1 percent shell fragments; fragments; slight effervescence. Lab sample # OSU0019953. Lacks the banding of the overlying zone.
251 to 290 centimeters (98.8 to 114.2 inches); yellowish brown (10YR 5/4) Error; massive, and platy; 1 percent shell fragments; fragments; slight effervescence. Lab sample # OSU0019954
290 to 348 centimeters (114.2 to 137.0 inches); yellowish brown (10YR 5/4) Error; massive, and platy; 1 percent shell fragments; fragments; slight effervescence. Described using auger. Not sampled.
348 to 422 centimeters (137.0 to 166.1 inches); brown (10YR 5/3) Error; fragments. Lab sample # OSU0019955. An intercalated silty zone present. Described using auger. Sampled at 142-152 inches.
422 to 457 centimeters (166.1 to 179.9 inches); brown (10YR 5/3) Error; fragments. Top of paleosol. Described using auger. Not sampled.
