C1—8 to 25 centimeters (3.1 to 9.8 inches); strong brown (7.5YR 5/6) and gray (2.5Y 5/1) and grayish brown (2.5Y 5/2) and light olive brown (2.5Y 5/4) gravelly silty clay loam; weak fine subangular blocky structure; firm; 3.0 very fine to medium roots; 20 percent by volume 2-39-75 millimeter unspecified fragments; slightly alkaline, pH 7.5, hellige-truog; clear wavy boundary. Lab sample # MU014114. (Note: The 2.5Y colors are a lithochromic mixture. The gravel is soft to hard with a few bits of coal.
