    Ap1—0 to 10 centimeters (0.0 to 3.9 inches); very dark gray (10YR 3/1); moderate fine and medium granular, and very fine angular blocky structure; firm; fragments; clear smooth boundary. Lab sample # 00P03004. few weak medium & coarse subangular blocky peds in middle of hip near bottom of horizon; many fine interstitial pores between the granular & very fine angular blocky peds & common fine tubular pores in subangular blocky peds; common very fine, few fine, few medium & common coarse roots (current year soybean plants) between peds & in desiccation cracks; many trans-horizon desiccation cracks 1 to 5cm wide that extends through horizon; few fine prominent irregular shaped brown (7.5YR4/4) & few fine prominent strong brown(7.5YR5/6)masses of iron accumulation with sharp boundaries on faces of some peds & throughout matrix; few fine very dark brown(10YR3/3)iron-manganese nodules with sharp boundaries in matrix.
