Ap—0 to 20 centimeters (0.0 to 7.9 inches); dark brown (10YR 3/3) loam; moderate medium and coarse granular parts to weak fine granular structure; very friable; 5 percent by volume 20-48-75 millimeter metamorphic, unspecified fragments. Lab sample # 40A03487. Contains approximately 5 percent coarse skeleton of 1-3 inch subrounded relatively unweathered fragments. Earthworms are common with a few night-crawlers exposed in the upper B horizon. Soil material held together by grass rootlets.
Bw1—20 to 41 centimeters (7.9 to 16.1 inches); dark yellowish brown (10YR 4/4) fine sandy loam; weak coarse subangular blocky parts to weak fine granular structure; very friable; 0.5 fine pores; 5 percent by volume 20-48-75 millimeter metamorphic, unspecified fragments. Lab sample # 40A03488. Contains about 5 percent coarse skeleton, chroma strongest at top fading with depth. Pores are unglazed and occur in the interior of the blocks with none on the surface.
2Bw2—41 to 61 centimeters (16.1 to 24.0 inches); dark yellowish brown (10YR 4/4) very gravelly loamy coarse sand; weak coarse platy structure; friable; brittle; 3.0 pores; 25 percent by volume 20-48-75 millimeter metamorphic, unspecified fragments. Lab sample # 40A03489. Contains 20-30 percent coarse skeleton in the 1-3 inch range. Pores are unglazed and appear in the interior.
3Bw3—61 to 79 centimeters (24.0 to 31.1 inches); light olive brown (2.5Y 5/4) very gravelly sandy loam; single grain parts to platy; friable; 0.5 pores; 44 percent by volume 20-48-75 millimeter metamorphic, unspecified fragments. Lab sample # 40A03490. Contains 40-50 percent coarse skeleton. In the platy peds, there are a few glazed pores. This may be an unconforming or wave-washed till horizon.
4Cd1—79 to 107 centimeters (31.1 to 42.1 inches); light olive brown (2.5Y 5/4) very gravelly fine sandy loam; weak coarse platy structure; firm, nonsticky, nonplastic; brittle; 0.5 pores; 1 percent coarse distinct masses of oxidized iron and 1 percent coarse distinct olive gray (5Y 5/2), moist, masses of reduced iron; 30 percent by volume 20-48-75 millimeter metamorphic, unspecified fragments. Lab sample # 40A03491. Contains 20-40 percent 1-4 inch subrounded coarse skeleton. A few soft brown weathered sandy limestone ghosts were cut through in this and the adjacent horizon when the pit was dug. Mottles occur along the plate faces. Not enough for a ""g"" destination. Few glazed interior pores, no pores on the surface.
4Cd2—107 to 124 centimeters (42.1 to 48.8 inches); light olive brown (2.5Y 5/4) very gravelly fine sandy loam; weak coarse platy structure; firm, nonsticky, nonplastic; brittle; 0.5 pores; 30 percent by volume 20-48-75 millimeter metamorphic, unspecified fragments. Lab sample # 40A03492. Like the horizon above but not mottled. A few soft brown weathered sandy limestone ghosts were cut through in this and the adjacent horizon when the pit was dug. Few glazed interior pores, no pores on the surface.
