A change in type and amount of quartz grains observed in this horizon, an irregular and discontinuous pebble line at 42 inches, a scattering of granitic and quartzite stones (1 1/2 inches in diameter) and pebbles (1/4 to 1/2 inches in diameter), and the general distribution of these clastics, indicate a possible change in materials. Quartz grains predominantly lightly stained with some bleached quartz grains and some finely divided, bleached quartz grains also observed. Small pockets of highly stained quartz grains and strongly coated vertical faces scattered throughout the horizon. Dark mineral population sharply decreased.
