    A1p—0 to 13 centimeters (0.0 to 5.1 inches); very dark brown (10YR 2/2) silty clay loam; weak very fine and fine granular structure; hard, friable; 21.0 fine roots; 21 percent worm casts at top of horizon; fragments; abrupt smooth boundary. Lab sample # 40A17125. Lower part of horizon in compact due to tillage.
