B21—20 to 30 centimeters (7.9 to 11.8 inches); reddish brown (5YR 4/4) loamy fine sand; weak very fine granular structure; friable; 0.5 fine roots; 3.0 fine pores; weakly coherent cemented dark reddish brown (5YR 3/4); 2-39-75 millimeter unspecified fragments; clear wavy boundary. Lab sample # 40A02008. Few 1/2 inch crudely spherical firm bodies comparable to bands in the horizon below, few 1/2 mm to 1 mm black hard pellets, some of which form a black streak on a cut face, some appear to be seeds; others smear and could be charcoal; one extension 8 inches wide cutting across horizon B22 on one side of the pit.
A&B(1)—30 to 53 centimeters (11.8 to 20.9 inches); reddish brown (5YR 5/3) and reddish brown (5YR 4/3) loamy fine sand, fine sand; massive, and weak very fine granular; firm; 0.5 fine roots; 21.0 fine pores; reddish brown (5YR 4/3), moist,; fragments; abrupt wavy boundary. Lab sample # 40A02009. One wavy band (5YR 4/3) fine sandy loam within the upper 3 inches of the horizon ranges from 1-1/2 to 1/4 inches in thickness. Firmer than the remainder of the horizon and was not sampled. Spots of similar material from 1/8 to 1/2 inch across occur and were sampled. Horizon is interrupted by B21 on one side of the pit.
A&B(2)—53 to 79 centimeters (20.9 to 31.1 inches); 40 percent pink (5YR 7/3) and 60 percent dark reddish brown (5YR 3/3) and reddish brown (2.5YR 4/4) crushed loamy fine sand, fine sandy loam; massive; friable; 0.5 fine roots; 3.0 fine pores; distinct clay bridges between sand grains and dark reddish brown (5YR 3/3), moist,; dark reddish brown (5YR 3/3); fragments; clear irregular boundary. Lab sample # 40A02010. A 4 inch irregular shaped body of (5YR 3/3) sticky fine sandy loam or fine sandy clay loam occurs. This was sampled separately as 21 to 42 inch depth.

Lab sample # 40A02018. Special sample; a nearly vertically oriented body ranging from 2 to 5 inches wide cutting through horizons B23 and B31. Bodies such as this occur erratically in various parts of the exposure below 20 inches, but few are so large or so nearly vertical in orientation.
A'2—79 to 114 centimeters (31.1 to 44.9 inches); 80 percent pinkish gray (5YR 7/2) and 20 percent dark reddish brown (5YR 3/3) and dark reddish brown (2.5YR 3/4) crushed fine sand, sand; single grain; loose; 0.5 fine roots; 3.0 fine pores; fragments; abrupt wavy boundary. Lab sample # 40A02011. Includes irregular-shaped bodies aggregating less than 20 percent of the mass which are slightly firm in place and appear to have slightly more than the matrix.
B22t—114 to 124 centimeters (44.9 to 48.8 inches); dark reddish brown (5YR 3/3) and pinkish gray (5YR 7/2) and reddish brown (5YR 4/3) fine sandy loam, fine sand, loamy fine sand; massive; firm; 0.5 fine roots; 0.5 fine pores; distinct clay bridges; fragments; abrupt wavy boundary.
