A—0 to 3 centimeters (0.0 to 1.2 inches); very dark brown (10YR 2/2) Error; moderate granular structure; very friable; fragments; abrupt wavy boundary. Lab sample # OSU0018191. Roots comprise 15 to 20% of volume. Occasional pebble-sized rock fragments. Horizon thickness varies from 2 to 4 cm; discontinuous in two places due to roots.
E—3 to 18 centimeters (1.2 to 7.1 inches); light yellowish brown (10YR 6/4) and yellowish brown (10YR 5/4) Error; weak subangular blocky structure; friable; fragments; clear smooth boundary. Lab sample # OSU0018192. In places the upper 4 cm has weak, thin to medium, platy structure. Roots comprise about 10% of volume.
BE—18 to 31 centimeters (7.1 to 12.2 inches); yellowish brown (10YR 5/6) and light yellowish brown (10YR 6/4) Error; medium subangular blocky structure; firm; skeletans and 2 percent faint , moist, clay films; fragments; clear smooth boundary. Lab sample # OSU0018193. Many fine and medium exped pores. Common fine and medium inped pores.
Bt1—31 to 48 centimeters (12.2 to 18.9 inches); yellowish brown (10YR 5/6) and yellowish brown (10YR 5/4) Error; moderate medium subangular blocky structure; firm; faint clay films; pale brown (10YR 6/3), moist, masses of reduced iron and 11 percent fine faint gray (10YR 6/1), moist, masses of reduced iron and 11 percent fine faint strong brown (7.5YR 5/8), moist, masses of oxidized iron; fragments; clear smooth boundary. Lab sample # OSU0018194. Moderately sticky and moderately plastic. Primary ped surfaces are mainly silty but have an occasional clay film. Common fine and medium inped and exped pores.; patchy - phpvsfiid 982872; patchy - phpvsfiid 982872
Bt2—48 to 61 centimeters (18.9 to 24.0 inches); 50 percent yellowish brown (10YR 5/4) and 50 percent light brownish gray (2.5Y 6/2) and dark yellowish brown (10YR 4/4) Error; moderate medium and coarse subangular blocky structure; firm; faint clay films; 11 percent fine distinct gray (10YR 6/1), moist, masses of reduced iron and 11 percent fine distinct strong brown (7.5YR 5/8), moist, masses of oxidized iron; fragments; clear smooth boundary. Lab sample # OSU0018195. Very slightly sticky and moderately plastic. An occasional patchy clay film on primary ped surfaces. 1 to 2% scattered, fine black Fe-Mn concretions. Many fine and medium inped pores; few to common exped pores.
Bt3—61 to 77 centimeters (24.0 to 30.3 inches); dark yellowish brown (10YR 4/4) and light brownish gray (10YR 6/2) Error; moderate coarse subangular blocky structure; firm; faint clay films; 11 percent fine distinct gray (10YR 6/1), moist, masses of reduced iron; fragments; gradual smooth boundary. Lab sample # OSU0018196. Very slightly sticky and moderately plastic. Mats of very fine black roots common on faces of some larger peds. Less than 5% fine and medium, black Fe-Mn concretions and stains. Many fine and medium inped pores; few fine and medium exped pores.
BCt—77 to 106 centimeters (30.3 to 41.7 inches); dark yellowish brown (10YR 4/4) and grayish brown (2.5Y 5/2) Error; weak coarse subangular blocky structure; firm; faint clay films; 11 percent fine faint gray (10YR 5/1), moist, masses of reduced iron and 11 percent fine faint yellowish brown (10YR 5/6), moist, masses of oxidized iron; 8 percent by volume nonflat indurated unspecified fragments; diffuse smooth boundary. Lab sample # OSU0018197. Non-sticky and slightly plastic. Coarse skeleton mainly of grit- and pebble-sized black shale fragments (these impart a dark color to horizon). Mats of very fine black roots common on faces of some larger peds. Very few, very fine, black Fe-Mn concretions
C1—106 to 126 centimeters (41.7 to 49.6 inches); dark yellowish brown (10YR 4/4) and brown (10YR 4/3) Error; weak subangular blocky structure; very firm; faint clay films; 11 percent medium and coarse distinct gray (10YR 5/1), moist, masses of reduced iron; 12 percent by volume nonflat indurated unspecified fragments; slight effervescence; diffuse smooth boundary. Lab sample # OSU0018198. The coarse subangular blocky units have a tendency to break into coarse platy units. Coarse skeleton mainly of grit- and pebble-sized black shale fragments (these impart a dark color to horizon). Soft, vesicular, white, gray and pink secondary carbonates
C2—126 to 146 centimeters (49.6 to 57.5 inches); dark yellowish brown (10YR 4/4) and brown (10YR 4/3) Error; weak subangular blocky structure; very firm; faint clay films; 12 percent by volume nonflat indurated unspecified fragments; slight effervescence; diffuse smooth boundary.
